Moving Sound
As part of the Second Saturdays are for Families series for the Contemporary Austin, guest artist Adam Hilton presents Moving Sound, an interactive fusion of touch, light, and sound. Inspired by Carl Cheng: Nature Never Loses, on view at The Jones Center.
Bridging the gap between sound generation and gestural expression, Hilton’s work builds upon the long tradition of interactive sound art luminaries such as Laurie Speigel, Atau Tanaka, Pamela Z, and Laurie Anderson via an integration of open source machine learning libraries such as MediaPipe and the sound engine SuperCollider to allow guests of all ages to create their own soundscapes using both energetic and subtle gestures.
